How I got here
I’ve lived with scoliosis since I was 12, and over the years I tried many different approaches to improve my pain and posture: yoga, Pilates, Schroth therapy, massage, acupuncture and more.
Nothing was ever a solution, just a band-aid. I felt like I was constantly managing the symptoms rather than getting to the root of my pain.
That changed when I began working with a Functional Patterns practitioner. Within my first week, I noticed a significant reduction in my pain. The approach was different from anything I had tried before. It focused on how my entire body moved and worked together rather than just treating the area that bothered me.
That experience led me to pursue my Functional Patterns certification in 2023. What started as my own search for a better way to move became the foundation of the work I now do with others.
What I am actually trying to do for you
My goal as a practitioner is to help you get to the root of your pain and feel more capable and empowered in your body. If you want to feel stronger, more stable, and more confident in how you move, I want to help you work toward that.
I want to challenge the idea that a diagnosis defines what your body is capable of. A diagnosis can describe something about your body, but it doesn’t have to determine how you move, what you can do, or how strong you can become.
For those with scoliosis, especially, I want you to know that the way you move is worth paying attention to. Your body deserves more than simply being managed around a diagnosis. It’s worth learning how to move, training it, and seeing what you’re capable of.
My qualification
I am a Functional Patterns Human Biomechanics Specialist Level 2, certified in 2023.
Functional Patterns is a training methodology built around how the human body is designed to stand, walk and move.
I train the same way I coach
I have lived with a curve since I was 12, and the work I do with clients is the work I do on myself. I bring first-hand experience of the pain and challenges that come with scoliosis, and of working to find a better way forward.
What to expect from me
Plain language
I will show you what I am seeing in how you move and explain why it matters. No jargon you have to nod along to.
Your body, not a template
Two people with scoliosis do not get the same program. The assessment is what decides the work.
Honest timelines
This is gradual work. I would rather tell you that up front than sell you a quick fix that does not hold.
Come and get assessed
The first session is the best way to find out whether this is a fit for you.
