Sound familiar?
Whether it’s in your knee, hip, back, shoulder or neck, chronic pain can be frustrating, especially when you’ve tried different treatments and exercises and still find yourself dealing with the same problems.
You may have experienced:
- The pain keeps coming back. You get some relief, only to have the same pain return when you go back to your normal activities.
- You’ve tried almost everything. Stretching, strengthening, massage, physiotherapy, chiropractic care, medication, or other approaches may have helped temporarily, but nothing has created lasting change.
- You’re constantly working around your pain. You’ve learned which movements to avoid and how to modify your day so you don’t aggravate the problem.
- You don’t know what’s actually causing it. You know where it hurts, but you may not understand why it keeps happening.
- You’re tired of managing it. You don’t just want another temporary fix. You want to understand your body and find a way forward.
What we do instead
Rather than isolating painful joints or temporarily relaxing tight muscles, we look at how your entire body functions as an integrated system.
As a certified Functional Patterns Human Biomechanics Specialist, I evaluate your overall movement. How you stand, walk, breathe, rotate, and transfer force through your structure. Pain often shows up in one area because another part of your body isn’t doing its job, forcing compensations that build up over time.
Our focus includes:
- Gait and posture analysis. Identifying the specific movement dysfunctions and imbalances that place unnecessary stress on your joints.
- Retraining patterns. Addressing how you manage gravity and ground force in your day-to-day movement.
- Long-term adaptations. Systematically retraining these patterns so your body learns a more balanced way to move, helping resolve the underlying issues causing your pain.
We understand you don’t want temporary relief. Our aim is changing the movement habits that caused the problem so your pain doesn’t keep coming back.
Training that fits the body in front of me
Every program comes out of the assessment, so what we do depends on what your body is actually doing, not on your age or what you think you should be able to manage.
How I approach it
What people ask me
Do I need a diagnosis before I book?+
No. You don’t need to have a diagnosis or know exactly why you’re hurting. That’s part of what we look at together. If your pain requires medical assessment or falls outside my scope, I’ll let you know.
I’ve already tried physiotherapy, massage, stretching, or exercise. Why would this be different?+
Many approaches focus primarily on the area where you feel pain. We look at how your whole body moves, including how you stand, walk, breathe, rotate, and transfer force, to understand what may be contributing to the problem. From there, we use corrective exercises to re-train the patterns so you can function without pain.
How long will it take to feel better?+
There isn’t one timeline that applies to everyone. It depends on what you’re dealing with, how long you’ve had it, and how consistently you train. The goal is to create changes that build over time rather than rely on short-term relief.
Can you work with an old injury?+
Yes. Previous injuries can influence how you move long after the original injury has healed. We’ll look at how you’re moving now and build your training around what your body can currently handle.
